Proofreading Rates and Services for Manuscripts
Services
There are two proofreading services we offer:
- Preliminary Check:
This is the money saving option. A 10 page check with full
editorial comments and all errors corrected. This is the same as the
full proofreading but encompassing only ten pages. The purpose is to
give you a chance to edit and proofread your own book after seeing the
comments of our professional editors.
PRICE: US $100
- Full Proofread:
Discussion of your requirements will be necessary before a quote of
the price can be given. Depending on your needs and the needs of the
book, proofreading of your manuscript may include the following:
- Spelling check (American? British? Canadian? Australian? International?)
- Grammar check
- Punctuation check
- Word usage
- Tense agreement
- Sentence structure
- Paragraph structure
- Logical sentence and paragraph flow
- Consistency of terminology and facts (Your input may be necessary
here and depending on the scope of the research needed this may
take extra time. If needed, this is calculated for and included
in our initial free estimate.)
- Organizational consistency and logic
- Miscellaneous items concerning professional manuscripts
- Revision of the above to present a polished, ready to publish,
professional document
Rates
Generally speaking the rate for proofreading ranges from US $0.01 - $0.04
cents (one - four cents) per-word. This is only an estimate and these
numbers are here only to give you an idea of the cost. These are NOT firm
numbers and your rate may vary significantly. The final price for all
manuscripts will be determined through discussions with the author and
a comprehensive assessment of the following criteria:
- The proximity of the deadline
- The closer the deadline the more it will cost.
- The quality of the writing
- The field of specialization
- The size of the document
- The larger the document the cheaper the per-word rate
- The type of editing needed
- Extra formatting requested for the final document
